Welcome to Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE)

  • We are so excited to begin a new session of ECFE!
    The Hawley ECFE is a program offered through the Hawley Public School to provide educational opportunities for parents  and children from birth to age five. Pre-registration is required so that preparations may be made for the sessions. It is also a Minnesota state law that all children attending must have up-to-date immunization records on file BEFORE the first day of class, so please be sure to provide them. 

    The Hawley WINTER/SPRING ECFE Session will begin on MONDAY, Feburary 6th. 

    The cost is $10 per child or $20 per family.

    ECFE WINTER/SPRING 2023 SESSION
    Monday evenings, 6:00-7:30PM

    Feb. 6: Winter Movie and PJ Night: We will kick off our winter sessions with special cuddle time! Your family is encouraged to come tonight in your jammies! You can even bring a blanket and special stuffed animal, if you like! We will watch a short movie and enjoy some yummy popcorn. You can also complete a craft or two!

    Feb 13: Valentine’s Day Party: Valentine’s Day is a very special day to teach our child about love! Tonight, your child will have the opportunity to make several Valentine’s Day projects! We will end the night with a heart-filled Valentine’s Day Party and snack.

    Feb 20: Parent Teacher Conferences: NO ECFE

    Feb 27: Music and Dance Party: Young children love to sing and it encourages young learners to use their whole bodies to be the best learner. Music and movement helps toddlers learn rhythm, allows them to keep their bodies busy, and helps their working memories.Come tonight to make a variety of musical instruments and encourage your child to love music and dance.

    March 6: 3 Fingers Pub Bowling: This is going to be an extremely fun night at ECFE! Please meet us at 3 Fingers Pub @ 6:30 to get a behind the scenes tour of the bowling alley. After the short tour, your family will be able to participate in some bowling family fun! Please bring $5 to help offset the cost.  Also if your child is sensitive to loud noises, please bring ear protection.

    March 13: Little Nugget Winter Open Gym: Tonight is sure to be one of your child’s favorite nights of ECFE! Please meet me at the Hawley Elementary Field House to participate in a night with lots of running and fun! Don’t forget to wear your tennis shoes and a water bottle.

    March 20: Changing Spring Weather: Calling all junior scientists, engineers, explorers, inventors! Tonight's sessions will allow you to dive into fun weather activities. The crafts tonight will allow you to explore spring weather in the comfort of our classroom. Together we will explore rain, clouds, rainbows and wind activities. 

    March 27: No School Teacher Workshop Day

    April 3: Kids In the Kitchen: Join us for some fun! Cooking can be a challenge with children but it is a fabulous way to learn so many lifelong skills. Be prepared for some “cooking” fun as we will each be making our own cookies and completing many other activities around the central theme of “Kids in the Kitchen!”

    April 10: No School Easter Monday

    April 17: Bugs and Insects: Bugs are creepy and crawling….and a toddler favorite part of being outdoors. With over a million different species of insects to learn about, the possibilities are endless for tonight's session. Together, we will explore parts of an insect, insect life cycles, habitats, food and more.

    April 24: Buffalo River State Park: For this session, we will be heading to Buffalo RIver State Park with special guest teacher Mrs. Katie Palmer. Make sure your family is at the elementary school before 6:00 to take a ride in a school bus to the Buffalo River State Park. Once we arrive, we will have a short story and a special nature scavenger hunt. If it is easier for your family, you’re more than welcome to meet us at the State Park about 6:15. 

    May 1: Fun in the Sun Beach Party:  Let’s start thinking about summer and all the fun that summer has to offer. Come to ECFE this evening in your brightest summer attire for learning and fun with sidewalk chalk, a water table, bubbles and more!

    May 8: Year End Picnic with horse rides: Please join us for our end of year picnic to celebrate all of the fun we have had this year together ! We will enjoy some time outside at the park , play some outside games, enjoy a picnic supper together and a horse drawn carriage ride!

    “ECFE is based around the idea that a child’s family provides a child’s first and most significant learning environment and that parents are a child’s first and most important teachers.” The purposes of Early Childhood Family Education are to help parents provide for their children’s learning and development, strengthen families, and to help young learners develop to their fullest potential. ECFE provides the “Building Blocks for Family School Success”

    To share a special ONE on ONE interactive time with your child
    To be aware of child development and its stages as your child grows and develops
