Administrative Assistant
Hawley Elementary School is accepting applications for a full time (8 hours per day) Administrative Assistant.
Qualifications:

High school graduate with two years college or tech courses preferred.

Above average communication and telephone skills
-
Working knowledge of office procedures as well as computer skills
-
Demonstrated aptitude for work to be performed including high degree of public relation skills
Reports to: Elementary Principal
Job Goal: To assure the smooth and efficient operation of the school office so that the office’s maximum positive impact on the education of students can be realized.
Performance Responsibilities:

Assumes responsibility for the clerical duties assigned by the elementary principal

Assist Finance Officer with activity account duties
-
Follows all rules pertaining to protected data
-
Make emergency contacts, handles parents, student, and staff problems as directed by school policy/handbooks and the superintendent’s office
-
Submits attendance records, MARSS and EDFI data reports and information as needed to satisfy local and state requirements.
-
Check daily attendance, contacting parents of students as needed.
-
Monitor all visitors entering the building and ensure guest protocol is followed
-
Supervise students sent to the office
-
Compose and produce correspondence including daily announcements
-
Update and record general data on each student and handles all data for new students and students who leave the district
-
Contacts substitute teachers and records absence information such as name of teacher, reason for absence, who substituted, and how many hours; then submits data to the district office
-
Administers medications to students under the direction of the school nurse and ensures proper dosage and documentation as required.

Assists with route bussing issues that may arise (student/parent/bus driver)

Assist with food service, including payments, notices, and questions
-
Keep census up-to-date, including reviewing birth records at the county recorder’s office for new births and adding them to the current census.

Order all general school supplies and equipment according to district procedure
-
Set up preschool screening and maintain student information resulting from screenings
-
Assist in kindergarten registration
-
Other duties as assigned
The workday is 7:30am to 4:00pm with a duty year of 228 days within the 12 month period (July 1-June 30). This includes the following paid holidays:

Duty Week: The duty week shall be 5 days/week from August 1st through mid-June and 1 day/week for the remainder of June and July.

Continue to support, refine and enhance the efficiency and organization of the new WIN time
Student GMOs will continue to rise and paraprofessional instructional time with students continues to increase with specific instruction that meets each student’s needs.
Provide additional support to classroom, special education teachers and paraprofessionals on academic screenings, instructional practices and interventions.
This would include screening of students, researching best fit interventions, and setting up additional supports.
Monitor ADSIS student outcomes at elementary and Spring Prairie (STAR Reading, and weekly Progress Monitoring).
Meet with ADSIS team members to determine if students are receiving appropriate interventions.
Develop behavioral intervention action plans when needed.
Provide training and support to paraprofessionals on researched based interventions.
Students will receive research/evidence based interventions in all areas of reading (5 Pillars) with fidelity.
Serve as ADSIS Coordinator
Write the expiring grant application as well as complete mid and end of year reports to secure ADSIS funding. Also will coordinate the completion of this grant with HS & SP.
Continue to support and organize benchmarking to be efficient and valid.
With the smallest impact on classroom interruption, teachers and WIN groups can begin instruction in a timely fashion.
Update the local database of student scores as assessments are completed for ALL students
Research data systems in other school districts for best analysis of our students' outcomes and other pertinent data (attendance, behavior, medical etc…)
Best inform teachers to make data driven decisions on ALL students.
Managing para schedules and work spaces with students
Tier II & TIER III will be completed with high levels of fidelity.
Assist teachers with instructional decisions for struggling students
Work with teachers to brainstorm strategies that can be used in core instruction as well as intervention groups
Review Tier I, II, III instructional needs
Work with teachers to make informed instructional decisions and/or implement classwide interventions.
Perform fidelity checks on interventions being delivered
Adjustments can be made to researched based interventions to improve fidelity.

Continue to inform teachers on most current research on best practices through emails, consultation and staff presentations
Teachers will be able to make researched based decisions when working with students based on the presentation of information delivered.
Screen and/or observe students referred to TAT team prior to team meeting
More specific outcomes can be defined in the meeting to determine the best fit intervention for the student.
Review our School Literacy Plan on an annual basis
The local literacy plan will have improvements aligned with the Read Well by Third Grade initiative.
Support new (to the grade level ELA teachers) in weekly coaching sessions with a select number of classroom teachers
Teachers will be supported when enhancing their teaching methods in areas that need improvement.
Behavior Intervention Team
Work with the School Psychologist, Principal, and Counselor to discuss trends with students and problem solve through existing systems.
Analyzing growth trends of students school-wide
Identify populations of students that are showing large success and those populations that may need assistance to further enhance instruction.
Establish a communication system for special education teachers and classroom teachers to align student instruction between the two settings
Special education students will perform higher on GMOs and IEP objectives
Be the main resource for Educlimber data and input of TAT data into the system as well as the TAT coordinator
Become familiar with Educlimber and all phases of the system to use with TAT, BIT, and WIN meetings.

1.0 FTE High School Agriculture Teacher

The Hawley Public School District has an opening for a 1.0 FTE licensed agriculture teacher for the 2023-24 school year and beyond. This position is new to our district as we are expanding our Agriculture program. Hawley High School boasts excellent facilities and equipment with a new middle school being constructed over the next couple of years with strong community support for the program. There is also potential to develop connections with the local agribusinesses. The candidate will have freedom to bring new ideas and curriculum to the courses while working in a department with Dave Swanson, our current Agriculture teacher. The district has an impressive resume and high expectations for student achievement. The teaching load will depend upon licensure. Extra-curricular positions are available but not a requirement for this position.
