The Hawley Public School District has an opening for a Middle School Principal. The position comes with a unique timeline and is an exciting venture for our schools and community. The brand new middle school is under construction and is set to open in the fall of 2026. As the district prepares for the opening of the new middle school (grades 5-8), the principal will start employment on an as-needed basis in the evenings in the spring of 2025 and will continue to work in a similar capacity during the 25-26 school year with the expectation of coming on board full time beginning on July 1, 2026.
Activities that could occur prior to July 1, 2026 include envisioning, planning and bringing to fruition a brand new middle school in a community that has never had one.
We anticipate this process to include but is not limited to:
- Development of a Master Schedule & Course Offerings
- Hiring & Staffing
- Lead the Team in Creating a Unique Middle School Environment
- Opportunities for Middle School Students
- Final Furnishing Input

A competitive compensation and benefits package, with an hourly rate to be negotiated through June 30, 2026. Beginning on July 1, 2026 a salary to be negotiated commensurate with experience and qualifications. Contract length is negotiable as provided in Minnesota statute. Additional benefits available may include health insurance, life insurance, PTO, MASA membership, and 403(b) contribution.

Summer Rec Director
Hawley Public Schools & Community Education is looking for a Summer Rec Director for the 2025 season. This seasonal position runs from March through August. QUALIFICATIONS:

REPORTS TO: Community Education Director PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: The tasks listed below are not intended to limit other tasks that might r easonably be assigned as necessary. Compile and communicate summer recreation schedules as needed with school (advertising), staff, and participants/families. Distribute program information to the community. Recruit, hire, train, supervise, evaluate and schedule work assignments for Summer Rec staff. Organize/order equipment and supplies as needed & maintain inventory of equipment and uniforms. Coordinate with Field Maintenance to communicate about field prep as needed. Coordinate cleaning of facilities. Be available to staff and parents for questions/concerns by being visible at activities. Responds to inquiries and complaints from the public related to the Summer Recreation Program. Supervise activities/events. Schedule umpires for home games. Coordinate payroll documentation for all employees, including distributing timesheets and providing instructions for submitting necessary paperwork. Lead scheduling of facilities, public relations, & registration for Summer Rec programs and services. Conduct the spring meeting for potential summer recreation employees to outline expectations and review rules for the upcoming season. Organize, facilitate, & schedule transportation for Summer Rec programs & events. Maintain communication with drivers about schedule changes, locations, etc. Attend scheduled meetings. Summer Concessions Manager
Job Title: Summer Concessions Manager – Hwy 10 Ball Fields (June-August)
Job Summary:
The Summer Concessions Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations of the concession stand at the Hwy 10 Ball Fields during the summer season. This position ensures the concession stand is well-stocked, organized, and running efficiently while maintaining a clean and welcoming environment for patrons. The manager will coordinate with workers, handle scheduling, and manage finances for all events.
Responsibilities:
- Inventory Management: Order and maintain adequate stock of concessions throughout the season. Communicate with vendors in a timely manner.
- Scheduling: Create and manage the worker schedule for all games and events, ensuring adequate staffing at all times.
- Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for concession workers, ensuring clear communication regarding schedules, duties, and expectations.
- Concession Operations: Open and close the concession stand before and after each event, ensuring all equipment is properly set up and shut down.
- Cleaning & Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness and organization of the concession stand, including food preparation areas, equipment, and storage spaces.
- Financial Management: Record all sales, manage deposits, and maintain accurate financial records for each event.
Qualifications:
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage and lead Summer Rec employees
- Basic financial and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Work Schedule:
June-August hours will vary depending on the event schedule at the Hwy 10 Ball Fields.

Cook's Helper
Job Description: Hawley Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and reliable Cook's Helper to assist in the daily operations of our school kitchen. The Cook's Helper will work closely with the Head Cook to ensure the efficient preparation and serving of meals. Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with the daily setup of the lunchroom, including arranging tables and chairs.
- Supporting the Head Cook with meal preparation, cooking, and serving.
- Restocking kitchen supplies and ingredients as needed.
- Maintaining a clean and organized kitchen and dining area.
- Helping with dishwashing and other general kitchen duties.
Qualifications:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
