Dear Nugget Families;
Wow! Where does time go? I can’t believe we are at the end of the first week of April already. I want to take a few minutes to share a few things that are happening here at Hawley Public Schools:
WE NEED BUS DRIVERS! - We are currently short 1 route driver and are having to contract this route to a local contractor. Also, at this time we have only 1 driver available for extra trips (activity events, field trips etc.) and we are aware of 2 more drivers who will be retiring at the end of this school year. If you, or someone you know, is willing to look at what it takes to be a bus driver please reach out to our Transportation Director Brett Mayer Schmit.
The Board has contracted with True North Consulting to help develop a strategic plan which will help guide us as we set the direction for our District for the coming years. You will be receiving an on-line survey next week and I encourage you to submit your comments as we value your input. True North has also met with staff, administration and students and will be meeting with a Core Planning Team over the next 6 weeks. They will be presenting their report to the Board on Thursday, June 2.
For the past several months the Board has also been working with InGensa who is completing a comprehensive Facility Needs Assessment. This assessment is looking at our current facility capacities, interior and exterior condition of buildings along with the condition of our grounds. They are also conducting a demographics study to look at future enrollment projections. It is not a secret that our preschool and elementary are at full capacity which will soon transfer to our high school. Look for more information and Board discussion of the assessment results in the coming weeks.
As we head down the final stretch of the 2021-2022 school year I want to thank everyone for their support and understanding as we navigated the second full school year during a pandemic.
Stay Nugget Strong!
